Your People’s Fitness Champion has been on a whirlwind, international podcast tour lately. This of course means I’ve been sitting in my kitchen (on recorded Skype calls) being interviewed by other passionate fitness experts about diet, training, psychology, and productivity strategies related to fat loss, physique enhancement, and overall health.
Two of these shows are pretty big time in the health & fitness space — Ben Coomber Radio (the #1 fitness podcast in the UK) and Paleo Magazine Radio. So it was a real honor to get to be a guest on both of them.
I guess with the results people are getting with our Beach Physique Guide and Maverick Coaching Style, the spandex street scene is starting to take notice. Its like the spread offense in college football. Everyone wants to know how and why it works so well — not just for elite athletes — but for anyone with a willingness to learn, to apply targeted strategies, and to put in effort.
But this post and these podcast aren’t about me. I’m perfectly happy spending my afternoon breaks from the gym and/or writing cave in anonymity, watching Sportscenter, reading philosophy books, or slipping in some form of adult entertainment. Balance to avoid burnout baby!
However, interviews and podcasts are an awesome opportunity to educate. That’s why when I get a chance to chat on one, I chow down. There’s written books, articles, and posts. There’s whiteboards and videos. But there is something different about a few people pooling their knowledge and experience together, and trying to hash out simple solutions and strategies to real world roadblocks and riddles.
And with education going multimedia these days, you have to use every tool possible to get your content and messages across. This gives both the educator and the student the best chance at succeeding with their goals (in our case, getting you to look good naked).
So if you have completed, or are currently going through our Beach Physique email course, these podcasts are a great review of some of the key diet topics and fat-slashing strategies. If you are just starting out with the course, its a great summary of the bigger nutrition picture. From there, you can dive into more of the details throughout the remainder of the course.
You can check the shows out below. Instead of me pretending not to talk about myself in the third person like The Rock, I’ve included the hosts’ descriptions of these glorious appearances.
Until next time, may your afternoon breaks be productive somehow…
1. BEN COOMBER RADIO EPISODE #109: PALEO VS. BODYBUILDING WITH NATE MIYAKI
Nate Miyaki is this weeks special guest as we discuss the many areas of health, performance and bodybuilding that are hotly debated. We discuss Nate’s work and history in the industry, his methods as a coach, what he thinks of the 80/20 rule, the importance of calorie and macronutrient targets, losing strength while dieting, is there such a thing as a bad carb, benefits of flexible dieting, low carb dieting and whether it’s necessary, and whether paleo nutrition and bodybuilding nutrition should be separate camps, or can we learn ideas and principals from both for better results.
2. PALEO MAGAZINE EPISODE #56: NUTRITIONAL PRAGMATISM WITH NATE MIYAKI
We’re going to talk with Nate about pretty much everything to do with nutrition, breaking down myths, overcoming stereotypes, really trying to dig deep into what actually works, and getting rid of the dogma. Let’s find out what actually works when it comes to making people lean and ripped and healthy at the same time, because it’s not just about looking good. It’s about feeling good as well.
